Here are more easy to grow flowers that can be used to add a special flavor to your dishes.
- Calendula or pot marigold (Calendula officinalis)
I find calendula flowers somewhat bitter, but I use their deep orange petals sparingly in soups and salads for color.
- Chives (Allium schoenoprasum)
The lavender pink flowers of chives are best harvested when they are just beginning to open. Break apart the florets and add them to salads, cooked vegetables, casseroles, cheese dishes, eggs, or potatoes. They add a mild onion flavor.
